Ten Years

Ten years ago today, I was 18. I was in my first year of college. I was driving a Dodge Neon. Ten years ago today, I was living in my childhood home. I would say things like, "One day when I have kids, I'll....." That was clearly obnoxious, but I didn't have kids so I didn't know any better. Ten years ago today, my best friend had a baby that was just a week old.  I would drive around wasting gas and not minding, because it only cost $15 to fill up my gas tank. Ten years ago today, I was working as a cashier at a grocery store. I was making minimum wage, but I didn't mind because I had no bills and could spend it on whatever I wanted anyway. Ten years ago today, I was skipping my statistics class to hang out at the beach with a guy. That guy was almost finished with high school. Ten years ago today, that guy and I started dating. "That guy" became my husband.
